A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a tooth or dental implant to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are commonly used after a root canal, for cracked or weakened teeth, or as the final restoration for dental implants.
Each crown is uniquely shaped and shaded to blend naturally with your existing teeth, giving you a seamless smile and a comfortable bite.
At Red Canyon Dentistry, we offer crowns made from a range of materials, including:
All-ceramic or porcelain – Ideal for front teeth, offering a natural, aesthetic look
Porcelain fused to metal – Combines strength and beauty, typically used for back teeth
All-metal (e.g., gold alloy) – Extremely durable and suited for molars out of sight
We’ll recommend the best material for your needs based on your oral health, bite strength, and the tooth’s location.
Dental crowns are a versatile treatment that can be used to:
Restore a severely decayed or broken tooth
Strengthen a tooth after a root canal
Cover a large filling when little tooth structure remains
Cap a dental implant
Protect a cracked tooth from further damage
Enhance the appearance of a discolored or misshapen tooth
The crown process typically takes two visits:
Visit 1: Preparation & Impressions
We begin by gently reshaping the tooth and taking digital impressions to ensure a precise fit. A temporary crown will be placed to protect your tooth while your custom crown is being crafted at the lab.
Visit 2: Final Placement
Once your permanent crown is ready (usually within 1–2 weeks), we’ll bond it securely to your tooth. We’ll make sure the fit and bite are perfect so you leave with a natural-feeling, fully functional smile.
